Yarn Along - A Finish and a New Start

A quick post this morning as I am getting ready to head out the door. I really was enjoying my daughter being able to drive herself to work and her volunteer jobs, but her car needs some work, so I'm back to being 'taxi mom' once again:)

Linking with Ginny of 'Small Things' on her Yarn Along/Read Along blog hop and with Nicole of Frontier Dreams and her 'Keep Calm and Craft On' blog hop.
Reading: Still slowly reading through Knitting Pearls from Ann Hood. I'm thinking it's getting close to time to start another audio book. I just don't have the time to read, knit, crochet and stitch:) And I'd rather do those things than read, so I'm not getting very far, very fast.

Knitting: I finished my Knit Night Hat. It's still a bit too big for my taste, but not so much that I can't wear it. I really do love the stitch design on the brim of it.

I bought some fun sparkly yarn and I'm thinking of making a project bag with it. I'm just playing with it right now, not really using a pattern. We'll see how this one goes:)

I started a baby blanket for my cousin's daughter.
The pattern is Baby Shawl by Debbie Bliss found in her Knits to Give book. THIS is the project page on Ravelry. It calls for using Debbie Bliss' Baby Cashmerino, but I just can't - too expensive, so I am using I Love This Cotton in Rose. I've had good luck with the washablity of this yarn, and we all know how important that is when it comes to baby items!! :) So far I'm loving the way it's knitting up. Hoping to get this done before baby girl turns 3!! (She's only 5 weeks old right now:)

Well, need to head out now. I'll be back to check out what everyone else has been working on!!

  1. The Knitting Circle by Ann Hood is one of my favorite books. How is Knitting Pearls? I haven't read that one. Also, good call on using cotton for the baby blanket. :)

  2. Love the color choices for your projects! Beautiful knitting patterns as well! I'm not much of a knitter, but always admire those who are. I'm more of a crochet person and I enjoy spinning my own yarn these days. Nice hat too!
