<br />
I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I am participating in the 100 Day Project <a href="https://www.the100dayproject.org/">LINK HERE</a>. It seems that it's more geared towards artists than crafters, but there are several of us crafters that have joined in. Look up #100dayproject on instagram and you will see lots of different projects going on. My journey can be found at #100daysofmymaking on instagram:)<br />
<br />
I've gotten a few knitting projects off the needles in the past two weeks.<br />
<br />
First is a Sockhead Slouch hat I made for my daughter. I really like the colors in this. Black, of course as that is mostly what my daughter wears, but the pops of blue and a grey/purple kept it fun to knit. This is the 3rd of these hats that I have made and I'm thinking the last. I hope next time she wants a hat we can pick a different pattern:)<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also finally finished my Hermione Socks and I really love how they turned out!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I did have a problem with the toe on the first sock I knit though. I have done kitchener stitch before on the other socks that I've made, but it didn't seem right this time. I decided to knit up the second sock and see what the toe looked like on it before fixing the first one. Sure enough, my kitchener stitch worked out just fine on the second one, so I took out the toe on the first one, and fixed it.<br />

I also have a stitching finish. I finally finished the first of the Farmhouse Christmas series: Red Barn by Little House Needleworks. This series is perfect for our little 'homestead'*. I love the little sheep on this one!!<br />

I said I didn't have any set goals for my 100 Day Project a couple weeks ago, but I did end up making up a list of what I hope to accomplish over the 100 day period. This is the first page of my goals and so far I am right on schedule, actually a little ahead of the game. I'm happy to be a bit ahead as I tend to slack off as a deadline comes closer to the end:)<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We will see how far I get on this list which includes finishing the 3 Farmhouse Christmas charts that I currently own - I will have a few more by the time this challenge is done, finishing up my O'Tannenbaum stitching project and making/finishing two more pair of socks. I would also like to see some progress on the Cloud Wrap I am working on. I will keep you updated on my progress:) </div>

Note: *Homesteading has many different definitions for many different people. I see homesteaders as as people actively using their land/property, whether acreage or their backyard, to partially provide for themselves or family. This can mean growing a garden, raising animals, and/or finding a way to use the land to provide monetarily, by providing money or saving money - ie cutting wood for sale or own use, canning their produce, sewing for profit or family ect. Technically then, I don't see us as actively doing this, yet, but we are working on it. Everyone can have their own opinion on this, of course:)Shannon Meyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10441371597778253006noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7346367261240923592.post-14007116756284704382018-04-04T16:27:00.000-05:002018-04-04T16:27:27.170-05:00Yarn Along: April 2018Linking with <a href="http://www.gsheller.com/2018/04/yarn-along-april.html">Ginny from Small Things with Yarn Along</a> and <a href="http://frontierdreams.blogspot.com/2018/04/crafting-on.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+FrontierDreams+%28Frontier+Dreams%29">Nicole from Frontier Dreams with Craft On.</a><br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This month has been a little hit and miss on the craft front. I do a little here and a little there, but I'm just not getting much of anything done. So yesterday I joined the <a href="https://www.the100dayproject.org/">100 Day Project</a>. I think it's a bit more geared towards artists and coming up with a big project that you are going to put a bit of work into for 100 consecutive days, but I'm using it to amp up my crafting. No big project, just trying to focus and get a few done. *I will post the finished projects here, but if you want to follow along on IG my IG account name is withworkinhand.* </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So with that in mind, I started a new project :) HAHAHA well, to be fair, it's a small, quick and easy project and one that I've been wanting to try, but still, not exactly getting any existing projects done:)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is what I started out with...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Just a simple cotton wash cloth that I crocheted. And turned it into this...<br />

Such a cute little bunny. She's not quite finished. I think she needs eyes, a nose and whiskers and a tail. And she's a bit head heavy, so I am going to try and fix that as well, but otherwise, she is super cute:) I'll post pictures of her when she is all done. The instructions for this is<a href="https://josoandsew.wordpress.com/tutorials/knitted-bunnies/"> HERE. </a><br />
<br />
I have also worked on my daughter's hat. This is a <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sockhead-slouch-hat">Sockhead Slouch hat</a> and I am about an inch from starting the decreases for the crown. This will be what I focus on next for a finish. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was really good, I wish I had realized it was the only one in this series that had been published, because I really want to listen to the next one!! The next book comes out in May, but I'm not sure how long I'll have to wait until the Audible version will be ready. I can't wait!! :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Okay, off to do a bit more crafting before needing to make dinner for the family:) Have a good evening!! </div>

To be a part of the fun all you do is start from Jo's blog and write down the letter that each blog is featuring to make this year's Easter Treasure Hunt phrase. When you figure out the phrase you should comment on Jo's blog:) So much fun!!!<br />

I didn't end up getting anything new finished up in time for this blog hop, but I did 'finish/finish' a piece that I stitched up last year.<br />
<br />
This is 'Carrots' By <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheSubRosaDesign?ref=l2-shopheader-name">SubRosa</a>. It was a free design created last spring for anyone purchasing another design in her Esty shop. I can't find it in her shop now, but maybe if you asked really nice she will add it at some point:)<br />

The pouch was to have a green felt fringe on the top edge of it, but I didn't have the right shade of green felt so I left it off. I thought it would be fine, but it seems a little bare on the top, so I might try to track down some in the right shade and add it on. Also I think it needs a way to hang the pouch as it pretty much has to sit flat the way it is, but that can be fixed too:)<br />

<br />
It's been a good long while since I've posted, maybe a month? I think the winter cold got to me a little this year and I needed a bit of a tech break. We do not live where all the snow has been, in fact we had been completely dry here up until a week or so ago when we started getting the spring rains. We are cloudy with drizzle and on the cold-ish side of things today. We really need the rain, so I don't mind:)<br />
<br />
I have been knitting and stitching a little here and there, though not as much as I would have liked. I am still working on the same projects I was the last time I posted:)<br />

I love, love, love how the Cloud Wrap is turning out. The color and the little puckers are just perfect!! The hat is a little less exciting as this is the third one I've made and it is a lot of repetitive knitting, but perfect for tv watching and even though it is mostly black (daughter's choice), I do like the bursts of blue in it:) I thought I wouldn't get it done before the warm weather hit, but I think it'll be done by next week and we still have chilly weather in the forecast - though thankfully not below freezing!!<br />
<br />
I'm off to eat lunch, knit a bit more and get some chores done!! Have a lovely day!!Shannon Meyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10441371597778253006noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7346367261240923592.post-57891674408344109712018-02-28T17:10:00.001-06:002018-02-28T17:10:20.687-06:00Craft On: 1, 2, 3!?!?!Linking up with <a href="http://frontierdreams.blogspot.com/">Nicole from Frontier Dreams</a><br />

Why, yes there are!! ~Actually if I am being honest, there are a lot more than 3 projects on needles, but these are the ones I'm actively working on:)<br />
<br />
I've made quite a bit of progress on my <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cloud-wrap">Cloud Wrap</a>...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje-q8KeCRTwmtY0LU4CCStJC6jm7jqamU_gCjeqj9T0iogEmy1CKMuzPrAbjEnD6rtOqdLvyiTx1rsnwsVXbAv7yFJZReyxedXHtrA7onCT9cHgn4nfpT3LLDjHAnJ6mK3WeBVP5nXT5aj/s1600/IMG_4805.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje-q8KeCRTwmtY0LU4CCStJC6jm7jqamU_gCjeqj9T0iogEmy1CKMuzPrAbjEnD6rtOqdLvyiTx1rsnwsVXbAv7yFJZReyxedXHtrA7onCT9cHgn4nfpT3LLDjHAnJ6mK3WeBVP5nXT5aj/s400/IMG_4805.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
I am right at the point where I'm done with the increases on both sides, it will now increase on one side and decrease on the other.<br />
<br />
Also got a bit done on my <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hermiones-everyday-socks">Hermione sock</a>...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I have the leg done and have started the heel flap.<br />
<br />
And then I started another hat for my daughter..<br />

This will be a <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sockhead-slouch-hat">Sockhead Slouch</a> hat like the last one I made for her. She really likes the style and it fits her really well. This yarn was to be a pair of socks for her, but she said she'd rather have a hat. This is a really easy hat to make, a super portable project.Shannon Meyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10441371597778253006noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7346367261240923592.post-45591439822078728022018-02-22T10:10:00.000-06:002018-02-22T10:10:56.651-06:00Craft On - Making ProgressLinking with <a href="http://frontierdreams.blogspot.com/2018/02/crafting-on_20.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+FrontierDreams+%28Frontier+Dreams%29">Nicole from Frontier Dreams </a><br />
<br />
This week has been much more productive with the knitting!! First off I did finish the first of the <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hermiones-everyday-socks">Hermione socks</a> and got a start on the second one:-)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBarOs3KuGY-6iVYiavpxXTpkd3MSrOtnOu48emJ619D9k7gBon2ZgRG2yqZe-rPCM-TrMPK2joewhsqgcJKxAmjLmGf3OzgZTQJ2UDzCGaWkBbkUzDdD1o9nbf7m6k4h0-FLTvxpzXtD4/s1600/IMG_4798.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBarOs3KuGY-6iVYiavpxXTpkd3MSrOtnOu48emJ619D9k7gBon2ZgRG2yqZe-rPCM-TrMPK2joewhsqgcJKxAmjLmGf3OzgZTQJ2UDzCGaWkBbkUzDdD1o9nbf7m6k4h0-FLTvxpzXtD4/s640/IMG_4798.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I really love the texture on these:) However my kitchener stitch on the toe didn't turn out real well. I've done this stitch before without a problem, so I'm not sure what happened. I'm going to finish the second sock and see how the toe turns out on it, and then I'll decide if I want to take it out and try again or not.<br />
<br />
I got a little further on the <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cloud-wrap">Cloud wrap</a> as well and I really like how it's turning out as well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3zSQlje51ozAWm9T0lE-aSjX0_SiDWmPPfLp1rSH5d7uPsJH0fLCLXECUJNvh_Mw0L6-e7_z7RA4etiftbjcrTfhbgoU4jxvRhjWnGGtdOHTk28NuaX2LhVERFt0Nyu9yO_8pursWE-jt/s1600/IMG_4799.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3zSQlje51ozAWm9T0lE-aSjX0_SiDWmPPfLp1rSH5d7uPsJH0fLCLXECUJNvh_Mw0L6-e7_z7RA4etiftbjcrTfhbgoU4jxvRhjWnGGtdOHTk28NuaX2LhVERFt0Nyu9yO_8pursWE-jt/s640/IMG_4799.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
The lighting washed out the color a bit, it's really a much deeper teal blue, but it does show the start stitches pretty well. Going to a bit of a heavier weight yarn really did help with stitch definition and it's easier to knit with as well. I am really starting to enjoy this project now:)<br />
<br />
Hoping to get the other sock done by next week and get a lot more done on the wrap!!<br />
<br />
Happy crafting!!Shannon Meyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10441371597778253006noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7346367261240923592.post-74762856394599422962018-02-19T13:44:00.000-06:002018-02-20T09:50:24.462-06:00IHSW - Feb 2018Linking up with <a href="https://joysze.blogspot.com/2018/02/ihsw-february-2018-report.html?m=1">Joysze from Random Ramblings</a> and her International Hermit and Stitching Weekend:)<br />
<br />
It's been quite some time since I participated in the IHSW and I'm super excited that it is back up and running:) Thank you Joysze for putting the work into this stitch along and the Facebook page as well!!<br />
<br />
Like normal - for me anyway, I made headway on one and lost ground on the other. The first project I worked on was O Tannenbaum from With thy Needle and Thread. I started off here...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjpcyCDhSqGkVilHhqmNpTieA_rq1tPrbm8XCCzwmEo8Ln-fI4okifWS-JJEjw2CPLQq4theGT0FtY-9dvdCeWaxCkYlRPPI1GL8L5xitbveTDpgUsVxCPgsHfEgHX41QO_eZEisGUpKfX/s1600/IMG_4790.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjpcyCDhSqGkVilHhqmNpTieA_rq1tPrbm8XCCzwmEo8Ln-fI4okifWS-JJEjw2CPLQq4theGT0FtY-9dvdCeWaxCkYlRPPI1GL8L5xitbveTDpgUsVxCPgsHfEgHX41QO_eZEisGUpKfX/s400/IMG_4790.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And ended up here. This finished this section of the design. There are 5 sections that are intended to be cut out and placed in different cubbies of a shadow box. I'm not doing the box, but will quilt the pieces together to make a small wall hanging. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJHPyMWbs0HYkInV4FWh4r_nHuoPuohyphenhyphen4XUDTzcdoVC3LtRWwHWET-Kfrn8NFW8t3RMp7n31mwCgihfIDv8ZERLkrwdidPVM6_2OzQWTG0pVVv6xaMgvPdWmOFktuYgbGkwzblnSF7nxKL/s1600/IMG_4796.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJHPyMWbs0HYkInV4FWh4r_nHuoPuohyphenhyphen4XUDTzcdoVC3LtRWwHWET-Kfrn8NFW8t3RMp7n31mwCgihfIDv8ZERLkrwdidPVM6_2OzQWTG0pVVv6xaMgvPdWmOFktuYgbGkwzblnSF7nxKL/s400/IMG_4796.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
I also worked on the first design in the Farmhouse Christmas series from Little House Needle Works. I started here...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib0DJSLJT0tqZvLJN60kqAqWBM8Fjjlm7Qi6ulgZPPlDxknfTo1zuzIOULsuKxonF7guKJd9wBy1iJXFxjrbUjs0K-hjdFaLh0CU4Bx420rfuu4LhX74rZwQitRpdSOMF8Yn1IUP3CfTeI/s1600/IMG_4791.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib0DJSLJT0tqZvLJN60kqAqWBM8Fjjlm7Qi6ulgZPPlDxknfTo1zuzIOULsuKxonF7guKJd9wBy1iJXFxjrbUjs0K-hjdFaLh0CU4Bx420rfuu4LhX74rZwQitRpdSOMF8Yn1IUP3CfTeI/s400/IMG_4791.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
And ended up here. I guess I did make a little progress on the the right side of the barn, but as I was stitching it I realized that I miscounted on the left side and needed to frog most of it. All-in-all, I lost progress on this one. I intend to quilt these designs together as well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGTQ3sZraM0yT5M-d1MrXhV0jCm8zH87kake9Jqzq9yHFtNT_Oa2btqJ_HB1rgH-_KHQHqJzqL9H3x5rbfY2uY8fHBCaL0C3kHKJk6tf7lhOx9CeCTUl5aygHZJP8VPjWk0NBT-MShyTUa/s1600/IMG_4797.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGTQ3sZraM0yT5M-d1MrXhV0jCm8zH87kake9Jqzq9yHFtNT_Oa2btqJ_HB1rgH-_KHQHqJzqL9H3x5rbfY2uY8fHBCaL0C3kHKJk6tf7lhOx9CeCTUl5aygHZJP8VPjWk0NBT-MShyTUa/s400/IMG_4797.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
Not bad for a couple of days though and I'm loving both of these projects so much!!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Didn't get as much done as I had wanted this time, but did get a late little Valentine project finished off. This was a fun little stitching project by Heartstrings Samplery called 'Handprint on my Heart'. I did it over one on 32 ct linen with the called-for CC Cherry Cobbler. <span style="text-align: center;"> </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I finished it into a little pillow hanger for a china hutch in our living room.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had this stitched in time to get it all finished up before Valentine's day, but didn't get to it until last night. I had hoped to also make a grime (or crud) guard for another q-snap frame I just bought, but hubby wanted to go out for dinner when he got home last night, and who am I to say that I'd really rather cook dinner myself? :) So we went out and then rented a movie, so that took the rest of the evening. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The rest of this weekend will be spent doing as much stitching as possible! Well, I may need to do a little cleaning and cooking too as my mother-in-law is coming over tomorrow:) But this weekend is <a href="https://joysze.blogspot.com/2018/02/ihsw-february-2018-roll-call.html">IHSW - International Hermit and Stitching Weekend</a>!! This is a stitch-a-long I participated in some a little over a year ago, and it kind of fell apart for a while, but it is back!! And I'm pretty happy about it. You are welcome to join in as well, if you'd like:) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So now I'm off to look a bit at what others worked on last night, and then do some stitching:) </div>

<br />
This week has proven to be super un-productive knitting wise. Last Thursday I showed off my <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cloud-wrap">'Cloud Wrap' </a>that I thought I had finally figured out how to make the star stitch look decent. I ripped out what I had and got to knitting it (again)...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_cIZoTaH3GMcPTn_jfHM86-6QlII_X9VRWYp7GOu385pwY5lx1GWdAFMgp1kb3U7kSEZY63NH0yu9KswSDyBO56u7Pl_yawd76tg67l6PllKW1p6IJa1j4Ekb8b0ux48XYE2CNV8moGXo/s1600/IMG_4778.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_cIZoTaH3GMcPTn_jfHM86-6QlII_X9VRWYp7GOu385pwY5lx1GWdAFMgp1kb3U7kSEZY63NH0yu9KswSDyBO56u7Pl_yawd76tg67l6PllKW1p6IJa1j4Ekb8b0ux48XYE2CNV8moGXo/s400/IMG_4778.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
I knitted until I got to the star stitches and even though they were still not turning out how I wanted them to, I kept on going until I knitted 2 too many rows and knew I needed to tink back. That's when I took a real hard look my knitting and decided that it's not so much the star stitches turning out badly, it's just that with how fine and airy this yarn it, they just don't show up - and this is even after ripping it back initially to knit on a smaller needle. To the point that I have a hard time finding them even when I know where they should be. So I ripped it out...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwTNUY_xAHSr3D5kcN1nCUxg9nls0dJH-3T9yedMUITCnCnTnXUGbcX44kQfWvU8y_y9sEC_xSywSJ07A7hcqQaZ-dwQa2x0E-3nno0YIZlXKCZr3DtLK_jxbQnQyzsHqLz5HS_SB3ssI4/s1600/IMG_4780.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwTNUY_xAHSr3D5kcN1nCUxg9nls0dJH-3T9yedMUITCnCnTnXUGbcX44kQfWvU8y_y9sEC_xSywSJ07A7hcqQaZ-dwQa2x0E-3nno0YIZlXKCZr3DtLK_jxbQnQyzsHqLz5HS_SB3ssI4/s400/IMG_4780.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
And started it (AGAIN!!!), but this time with a little heavier yarn. I was using Cloud from Knit Picks which is a lace weight yarn in an Alpaca base. It is so light and soft and I LOVE the color, but do not love knitting with it. This yarn is from Loops and Thread and is an acrylic yarn, but is super soft. It shows as a fingering weight but has 650 yards per 100 grams, so a really light fingering yarn. I like the color, though not as much as the other, but I really love how the fabric is turning out. It won't be as light as the original, but I think it will drape just fine and since I'm still using the smaller needles, it should come out about the right size.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYEPoRgKFi8_HYsjMq4ifyrJ5g_26A0i-H-Dn5VdVEB68m_8tUCb2-k7iGqJnxWrQzXlU3oLCRuzVtbCW2d7LXP3MUhJYQ4r7yUzgrHmSd58p1dsyaXYpXMjNwoa4dmVB2Up4o_bm_AfnS/s1600/IMG_4781.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYEPoRgKFi8_HYsjMq4ifyrJ5g_26A0i-H-Dn5VdVEB68m_8tUCb2-k7iGqJnxWrQzXlU3oLCRuzVtbCW2d7LXP3MUhJYQ4r7yUzgrHmSd58p1dsyaXYpXMjNwoa4dmVB2Up4o_bm_AfnS/s400/IMG_4781.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
So, all-in-all, it's not a total loss, just frustrating. I will eventually look for another project to use the lace with, but not any time soon :)<br />
<br />
I also had a bit of a snag (literally) with this pair of socks. These were the first I knit and I love wearing them, but old floors - hardwood and uneven carpeted- doesn't make for the best friends with hand knit socks. The snag was bad enough that it would eventually unravel, so I decided to pull it out from the toe and work back up. I thought that would be easy enough, but even though these are made from washable wool they have felted just a little around the foot/toe area. Made pulling out the stitches not so easy, but I got them and just need to tink back another row or two and then it should be right at where I will start the toe decreases. Thankfully I still had some of the yarn from making these:)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDjuXH7WEgBegrqGUMANaNeKEaeOe5N6qKo8irJmhSWVCCJv9RYmXO10mfdY3Z-uxK1YS-9i7kwaWSBRv2nPNcQCjs1gjNxi_iqNRd7_Gic7xMauEelTvHYGO7oJdZflxfbUP767-72dsj/s1600/IMG_4783.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDjuXH7WEgBegrqGUMANaNeKEaeOe5N6qKo8irJmhSWVCCJv9RYmXO10mfdY3Z-uxK1YS-9i7kwaWSBRv2nPNcQCjs1gjNxi_iqNRd7_Gic7xMauEelTvHYGO7oJdZflxfbUP767-72dsj/s400/IMG_4783.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I did get a bit more done on my Hermione socks as well, but not enough to take a picture of. Hopefully by next week I'll have the one I'm working on done and the second one cast on. Hoping for a more productive week!! :) </div>

<br />
I am not getting super far on my knitting/crocheting lately and I totally blame my stitching projects!! :) I've been having a hard time deciding on where I want to go with the knitting this year. I learned to make socks last year and even started a cardigan and those where two things I really wanted to learn. I still need to learn the cardigan and it's been so long since I've worked on it that I think I'm going to need to rip it out and start again because I can't remember what changes I made to the pattern that will need to be repeated for the front of it.<br />
<br />
I think the problem with the cardigan is that I'm not sold on the pattern. I'm afraid it's going to be too tight fitting when what I really want is loose and snuggly. I need to make a decision on that:)<br />
<br />
But I did work on my Hermione sock which I'm loving!!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwS6MPp-blVJGvsoSWtSPfCOkeo1qDtus1B9-diuGSH8b0j90mgpzZjEnIdTVR20EaZFV4lohIJvTGXIGIUQrEYa6lPnHn2u4SMtB-qxAhZc-54m4bM7UVxZWMVApynLf0o_rRzLmLyFmg/s1600/IMG_4774.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwS6MPp-blVJGvsoSWtSPfCOkeo1qDtus1B9-diuGSH8b0j90mgpzZjEnIdTVR20EaZFV4lohIJvTGXIGIUQrEYa6lPnHn2u4SMtB-qxAhZc-54m4bM7UVxZWMVApynLf0o_rRzLmLyFmg/s400/IMG_4774.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
Love the texture with this sock!! And I did get a crocheted pot holder done...<br />

This is Peaches and Cream cotton yarn and this ball had more yardage than the last I used so I was able to make it bigger which I really like. This one is about 9in x 9in and is a perfect size for me.<br />
<br />
I also read The Practice House by Laura McNeal. I usually listen to books as I have a hard time reading and knitting at the same time :) but I did read this one. I think I liked it, I got through it so I guess I liked it. It was partially set in Kansas during the dust bowl, and as I live in rural Kansas, and know of the places that was mentioned, I could connect. But I just kept rooting for everyone to do what they should have done instead of what they did do and I found that I just didn't like most of the characters, even though I really wanted to like them. Anyway, it was okay, well written and interesting characters even if I wanted them to make different decisions:)<br />
<br />
Okay, back to knitting... As I've been trying to find what I will knit next I ended up buying a MKAL pattern for a wrap/scarf and then had to decide on yarn - this is what trips me up more times than not. I had a color scheme in mind - because of some yarn that I have but that is totally the wrong weight. I can't find what I want in the right weight so then I started looking for patterns that would work for the yarn I have... but I'm having hard time finding something I think will work for the colors that I have!! HAHA. Anyway I decided to go back to a WIP that I put away a while back...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF3z4JxYCyLHpSflK-O8XKbnOduQ8OTWQndYMesc2svyaLh3kaxyUxePGpx27y8Z0_jENP6uxSuzoYIVh3lEufP2Fiu4tH_zz7ZIyQxrtfhh5lSmzPrWpwesTAGTOkKqN3OO1XTFU_HKpD/s1600/IMG_4768.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF3z4JxYCyLHpSflK-O8XKbnOduQ8OTWQndYMesc2svyaLh3kaxyUxePGpx27y8Z0_jENP6uxSuzoYIVh3lEufP2Fiu4tH_zz7ZIyQxrtfhh5lSmzPrWpwesTAGTOkKqN3OO1XTFU_HKpD/s400/IMG_4768.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
I put this away because I wasn't happy with the way my 'Star' stitches were turning out. So today I played with it, did the stitch a couple different ways and got to a point that I'm happy with the stitch. I did decide to rip the whole thing back so I can make them all they same, but I think I'll be able to move forward on this now. And while looking through my WIPs to find this one, I ended up finding about 3 other things that I want to work on!! I guess I just needed to get excited about one of them to get my knitting mojo back:)<br />
<br />
I'm off to see what others have been working on!! Happy knitting/crafting!!<br />

I don't get to the LNS very often because even though it is the most 'local' needlework shop to me, it is still over an hour away. I usually only go during Christmas break, around my birthday and maybe one or two more time during the year. I was also excited because a design I had be waiting on was finally in!! I knew we would be tight on time as our friend needed to get back to pick up kids, so I spent part of Thursday going through my stash to see what I had and what I might be able to substitute if need be.<br />
<br />
I pulled threads that I already had...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg6bMdQqBmjdJPHkCM1LnLmzl2FKF-NzAhY2l4ieYhdzj5WyYEuWx_4nsWhH_2sOIpdcLHqkOL8kD_c56vCXcYpRLDJdD9QWBVn_lBt2jxWyKf0dcGGZFqzXyIk9-EqOJ0Kb1hQE7KR8LE/s1600/IMG_4756.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg6bMdQqBmjdJPHkCM1LnLmzl2FKF-NzAhY2l4ieYhdzj5WyYEuWx_4nsWhH_2sOIpdcLHqkOL8kD_c56vCXcYpRLDJdD9QWBVn_lBt2jxWyKf0dcGGZFqzXyIk9-EqOJ0Kb1hQE7KR8LE/s400/IMG_4756.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
And I even made notes from what others had substituted and what I thought would match up well...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaS3aLu-w7xXO2Rrl8vzo1JG-WMu-oHg190sJeSrsdY69aThqCk1BJ12SVg-VJgALVGW7HTUloOToOxQWJI4Wr79wMPxlQOhgir9S9zCFs201IfjiOd_YY2h8hUPbidEaOurP5x5zvjIoo/s1600/IMG_4762.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaS3aLu-w7xXO2Rrl8vzo1JG-WMu-oHg190sJeSrsdY69aThqCk1BJ12SVg-VJgALVGW7HTUloOToOxQWJI4Wr79wMPxlQOhgir9S9zCFs201IfjiOd_YY2h8hUPbidEaOurP5x5zvjIoo/s400/IMG_4762.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
I'm really glad I made these notes because the LNS was out of many of the floss colors that we needed - they were waiting on a shipment. So this helped not only me but my sister-in-law and our friend too.<br />
<br />
In the end I was able to kit up and get a small start on LHN's Farmhouse Christmas...<br />

I have actually gotten a bit more done on this one today, I just can't put it down!!<br />
<br />
It was a really fun shopping trip and after our friend picked up her son, we got back together and had lunch - I even got to play with her baby for a bit!! :) Hoping we can do this again at some point, it's nice to have a girls day out.<br />
<br />
Well, I'm off to do a little housework before hubby gets home and sees that all I really got done today was stitching:) Oops!!Shannon Meyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10441371597778253006noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7346367261240923592.post-48494945799266371262018-01-31T08:30:00.000-06:002018-01-31T08:30:44.981-06:00Craft On - Lots of Yarn!!As I posted a few days ago, last week ended up not being very productive due to our household coming down with a cold (but thankfully not the flu!!). Most of this is progress from the week before, but I didn't get a chance to show it off so I am now:)<br />
<br />
One thing I got done was a scarf I was working on for our 4-H carnival. It went into a basket our club put together with a 'Winter' theme and then was auctioned off along with baskets from the other clubs in the county. It was a pretty simple crochet pattern I found looking at wash cloth patterns:)<br />

<br />
I have been working on crocheting another pot holder too as quite a few of mine are falling apart. This one will be a bit bigger than the last I made and I'm thinking it'll be the perfect size.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlNFSBclfLT1rID7E0m-JgcG2NoV6o_kJ49oo0S9WDvoSVteUhIxGETf1cX_czrmSpLs3Vg8MwUvsY4Y-7qI7HZMP9sGA_udoRgajH0RjByF3VVtfk-k_ku7f7ycj3A6AeqfDGYoYQ3oZ4/s1600/IMG_4753.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlNFSBclfLT1rID7E0m-JgcG2NoV6o_kJ49oo0S9WDvoSVteUhIxGETf1cX_czrmSpLs3Vg8MwUvsY4Y-7qI7HZMP9sGA_udoRgajH0RjByF3VVtfk-k_ku7f7ycj3A6AeqfDGYoYQ3oZ4/s400/IMG_4753.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
I am also working on another sock:) This is the<a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hermiones-everyday-socks"> 'Hermione's Everyday Sock'</a> pattern that I started sometime in November when I was working on a lot of Christmas gifts. I needed something to work on when our daughter was home and I couldn't work on her gifts. I really love the texture in this pattern and am ready to make the heel flap now.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE2yJdRhnMQrilIiY7IglLTqqq27stp5dS_6DxP-eATk8EaveUHqbvAUndh5XWTjVS51j0yC_cFvpbWhQqCEf_pdMdsW7eFRqoDcNwB7hVs2GCAtlVfsf6edQK8h59KhAh4qfoDcraFFs9/s1600/IMG_4737.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhE2yJdRhnMQrilIiY7IglLTqqq27stp5dS_6DxP-eATk8EaveUHqbvAUndh5XWTjVS51j0yC_cFvpbWhQqCEf_pdMdsW7eFRqoDcNwB7hVs2GCAtlVfsf6edQK8h59KhAh4qfoDcraFFs9/s400/IMG_4737.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I need to pull out a few WIPs and projects that I have kitted, but haven't started yet to see what I want to work on next. I know I want to continue with socks, and I have an afghan that I need to work on too. I may pull out the sweater I started, but I'm not sure. Hmm, maybe I need a new project all-together!! :) We will see.<br />

Thankfully ours was the cold and not the flu and so was much less severe and shorter lasting. Daughter and I are feeling almost back to normal now, hubby was the last to get it so he still has a few days to go.<br />
<br />
I thought I'd update on what I'm currently stitching on today since that might change by the end of the week:) The beginning of a series that I've been waiting on recently released - Farmhouse Christmas from Little House Needleworks!!! And as such, I will be going on a little shopping trip later this week to pick it up along with supplies and anything else that catches my eye. It'll allow me to use up the gift card my mother-in-law always gets me for Christmas. Usually I use it right after Christmas when my local needlework shop has their inventory sale, but I knew this was coming out soon so I saved it;)<br />
<br />
Right now I'm continuing to focus on...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhQz6kp72hPVkNJU07ljaoKtIOTI07b0Ar5yF-j_MYr2K6SkVYEUtTah8DPuDXTcNtNR2CVsHTOanh1ZRbdE_f8NgPR9y-qbFlf_d4pYSlfMQhR2Wgj566N-pjirgbANPYGbccAMgzVDdl/s1600/IMG_4752.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhQz6kp72hPVkNJU07ljaoKtIOTI07b0Ar5yF-j_MYr2K6SkVYEUtTah8DPuDXTcNtNR2CVsHTOanh1ZRbdE_f8NgPR9y-qbFlf_d4pYSlfMQhR2Wgj566N-pjirgbANPYGbccAMgzVDdl/s400/IMG_4752.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm not sure if you can really tell the progress I've made on this in the last couple of weeks. Right now I'm mostly filling in all the little spots that is one stitch here and one stitch there. It takes longer but doesn't show progress. Bummer. I'm still on the first page, but am a little over half way now, so that is good:) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm also working on Winter Snapperland from Bent Creek. I've just about got the first of four blocks done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ4ATWU2fmEWWB2npPY3tf1DBgyl8tDoYvDt9AXReHB-6NwimA3NTwu26lEA6ZgJWkGZ4EiXUpEi6DuGGTM-7welUp-1luueXugu15XxuiwcEZZywKblji4qh7tBZ0DvYRHuCASSWXVStm/s1600/IMG_4751.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ4ATWU2fmEWWB2npPY3tf1DBgyl8tDoYvDt9AXReHB-6NwimA3NTwu26lEA6ZgJWkGZ4EiXUpEi6DuGGTM-7welUp-1luueXugu15XxuiwcEZZywKblji4qh7tBZ0DvYRHuCASSWXVStm/s400/IMG_4751.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
AND a finish!!! This is 'Handprint on My Heart'. I had planned to get it sewn together so I could hang it up last week, but that's about when the sickies hit, so hopefully I'll have that to show off later this week.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEign5aPiKkYpYhAUkkDwcvhKs195wywD3Ah0tGvV43sq0X5jgBoKmcy-lz2agFoQW-BN5MsKXfqWxmwwtkmt72Z20csAvfSEtBxEP7hSV5Zg3N827LHPMKMllK38nP3-ukj04q3-naWJLuI/s1600/IMG_4728.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEign5aPiKkYpYhAUkkDwcvhKs195wywD3Ah0tGvV43sq0X5jgBoKmcy-lz2agFoQW-BN5MsKXfqWxmwwtkmt72Z20csAvfSEtBxEP7hSV5Zg3N827LHPMKMllK38nP3-ukj04q3-naWJLuI/s400/IMG_4728.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
That is all for now. I'm pretty excited for my shopping trip, so I think I'll go and make a supply list right now:)<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm pretty excited to be getting back to a couple sew/knit/stitch blog hops. Helps to keep me motivated:) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started a big stitching project for the beginning of the year, 'The Way Things Used to Be' from Artecy designs. It is so big that I can't fold up the fabric on one side of the q-snap to hold it in place. I don't usually use a q-snap or frame/holder of any kind, but this one is a must. My sister-in-law suggested that I make a grime/crud guard for it as it would keep me from getting the fabric dirty and help hold in the fabric..</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Look at all that extra fabric!!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I showed my sister-in-law that I had figured out how to make one (loosely following <a href="http://crossstitchforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=25327">THESE</a> instructions) and she asked if I could make her one with the coordinating fabric I used when making her a stitching bag and I decided I needed one more for another semi-big project I'm working on, so...<br />
<br />

And now I have another request from a friend for one or two for her. Thankfully they are super simple to make so I don't mind:)<br />
<br />
I have yet to actually use them as I needed to get a scarf done that I was working on, but that is done now so it's time for some stitching!!<br />
<br />
Off to see what others got done last night as well!!Shannon Meyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10441371597778253006noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7346367261240923592.post-55985065545773014462018-01-16T13:42:00.000-06:002018-01-16T13:42:00.207-06:00Happy 2018!!!Yeah, I know, I'm a little late to the party:) I've really taken my time easing into the new year. My last post was in the middle of November and shortly after that my hubby broke his ankle. Not a bad break, thankfully, no surgery required, just lots of rest and relaxation, which my hubby can do for a full 24 hours or so before he is ready to be back up and at it. The 5 weeks that he more or less took off work was pretty much torture for him. Other than a day or two here and there where he *thought* he was ready to go back to work and then learned otherwise, he was in the bed or on the couch with his leg up - he was having a lot of issues with it swelling. He's all back to better now, and we are all thankful for that!!! When he first did it my sister-in-law asked if the doctors were going to tranquilize him to keep him off the ankle. I said they needed to either tranquilize him, or me!!<br />
<br />
With all the home time, I did get quite a bit of crafting done. Most of it was for Christmas gifts, some of which I forgot to take pictures of!!!<br />
<br />
I made a new zipper stitching bag for my sister-in-law, finished the autumn wordplay stitching and the winter wordplay stitching for my mother-in-law, made a <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sockhead-slouch-hat">sockhead slouch hat</a> for my daughter...<br />

and <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/maize-3">Maize finger-less mitts</a> for her as well.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I think that is all for the Christmas gifts:) I even had most of them done by Christmas, I finished up the mitts on Christmas night, so I decided that counted too!!</div>
<br />
Since then I have been working on a bit of stitching and crochet. First is my Jan 1st start, it is 'The Way it Used to Be' from Artecy and it is a big one!! I made the mistake of telling my hubby that I was looking for a new pattern to start for Jan 1st and he asked if I could do one that he liked too. One that was a little bigger that we could hang up in the living room. So he starts looking around the internet and finds some he liked and so did I and we came up with this one...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfCA6w9eINmzz7uzH5Qv4kc2EEeHfgLfPuYlH5aOipoD3ceewrmjsLXGupTgCjfrSFq-NFzDdPxxEI7DEMg7Sm7Y19EMnRGLm4kdeKa4DSKfY9xde3M6q-73fAAJHmXevsqYbZZMXAabFL/s1600/IMG_4720.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfCA6w9eINmzz7uzH5Qv4kc2EEeHfgLfPuYlH5aOipoD3ceewrmjsLXGupTgCjfrSFq-NFzDdPxxEI7DEMg7Sm7Y19EMnRGLm4kdeKa4DSKfY9xde3M6q-73fAAJHmXevsqYbZZMXAabFL/s400/IMG_4720.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
There are around 24 pages of chart in this one!! So I'm not planning on having it finished anytime soon, but I will work steadily along on it. In between I hope to get some smaller projects finished like this one...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpESL1s8qzXUlHrGag8hVip8v41LAJ4T0iZ4xArbx8Y9q7o6pIhUsjCRRfWMJNTEX2TX6s03z1Fq52oY8qXns-xUW2Z5rTzS5iRgHvBO9_kqY4JCUqylJluPNPKF5NY1Cc9XLqT8a5t_S7/s1600/IMG_4718.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpESL1s8qzXUlHrGag8hVip8v41LAJ4T0iZ4xArbx8Y9q7o6pIhUsjCRRfWMJNTEX2TX6s03z1Fq52oY8qXns-xUW2Z5rTzS5iRgHvBO9_kqY4JCUqylJluPNPKF5NY1Cc9XLqT8a5t_S7/s400/IMG_4718.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
Just about done with it. I'm stitching this over one so it'll be pretty small.<br />
<br />
And I'm also working as fast as possible on this..<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Just a basic crochet scarf that I'm making to put in a 'Winter' themed basket that our 4-H group will be auctioning off. It's at about 40 inches long right now and needs to be finished by Friday!! Gulp!! I'm pretty sure if I put the stitching down for a couple days that I can get it finished in time:)<br />
<br />
I've got big plans for both crafting and home/life/possible business coming up for this year and I'm super excited about all of it. I'll make sure to keep you updated on all of it:)<br />

<br />
Not much to show this week. After 2 finishes in the last few weeks, all I really have now is new starts, which is fun, but they don't photograph very good. Especially since it has been grey and gloomy here for most of the past several weeks. Forecast says sunny for this weekend, and I'm really hoping they are right. I'm all for rainy, cloudy days, but after a while a person really needs to get some sunshine!!<br />
<br />
Like I said, I have a few projects just started and they are all for Christmas gifts, and it's kind of funny, but all of them are in almost the same exact stage of 'done-ness'...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTZrTqwNet83DLWV1j_I0oa3KusWNk3rXBQ6gzeUEUVzxMW4ohI__jiO64lF52mRqeAeKBK9sdno4lVV2NhLxb4K1aUn4pgJLaaBaS1ooOd6lz3ph8O7WQek5HKRDcXIfOGxhvLP0FrvVJ/s1600/IMG_4652.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTZrTqwNet83DLWV1j_I0oa3KusWNk3rXBQ6gzeUEUVzxMW4ohI__jiO64lF52mRqeAeKBK9sdno4lVV2NhLxb4K1aUn4pgJLaaBaS1ooOd6lz3ph8O7WQek5HKRDcXIfOGxhvLP0FrvVJ/s640/IMG_4652.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
On the left I have a <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sockhead-slouch-hat">Sock Head Slouch Hat</a> started for my daughter and the middle project is <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/maize-3">Maize Mitts</a> also for my daughter - can you see a pattern in the color that she likes? :) And yes, I posted the Maize Mitts as a new start a few weeks ago, and no, I haven't made any progress on them since. But I included them because they weren't intended to be a Christmas present then - my daughter fully knows about them, but as the weeks past along, I declared all projects on the needles being made for someone besides myself to now be Christmas gifts:) At least the hat will be a surprise - and let me tell you, living in a 700 sq ft home makes it kind of difficult to keep surprises!!<br />
<br />
The last project, on the right, probably looks familiar too and that's because I'm making another <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lilac-hat-with-lacy-zigzag-stitch">Lilac Hat</a>. I posted my finish of one for a foster family/friend-of-a-friend <a href="https://withworkinhand.blogspot.com/2017/11/craft-on-finishes.html">HERE</a>, last week. I ended up sending a picture of it to my niece to see if her 4 year old daughter might like one as well. She said, absolutely, that it was even in her daughter's favorite color!! So I am making up another, and it really is a fun one to make too:) This will be the first year we will celebrate the holidays without my niece and her husband and daughter, and also her brother (my nephew) and his wife. They all ended up moving to Washington State this summer - separately and for different reasons, but within a couple months of each other. So it will be kind of weird and my husband's side of the family will need to find a new kind of normal for the holiday celebrations. Thankfully, with all our technology, it is still easy to keep in touch with them:)<br />
<br />
That is all from me this week on the knitting front. I do have a few other projects that I'm working on for Christmas presents including some stitching and some sewing, and I'm hoping to post an update of my stitching later this week, so I hope you will join me for that:)Shannon Meyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10441371597778253006noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7346367261240923592.post-71663196905867315262017-11-08T12:40:00.002-06:002017-11-08T12:40:36.033-06:00Craft On: Finishes!!Linking with <a href="http://frontierdreams.blogspot.com/">Nicole at Frontier Dreams</a><br />
<br />
I guess the one thing to be said about being away from the computer is that I do get more crafting done:) I have two projects that I've finished in the last two weeks!!<br />
<br />
First is the bright pink hat I was making for a foster family-friend...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM9_UsgKDhrQKTj5S8-Tr1UZxZy7l-69kp-AOR186iIJhnODmzbMoW1fy_8RoShNRa4WZEZIP2jl1LfsUMRbVcz1vwh2oQkuaj3xGGaXVMzuPUvROesIv5HdlM1VYqsizKpebkyXtIToXQ/s1600/IMG_4618.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM9_UsgKDhrQKTj5S8-Tr1UZxZy7l-69kp-AOR186iIJhnODmzbMoW1fy_8RoShNRa4WZEZIP2jl1LfsUMRbVcz1vwh2oQkuaj3xGGaXVMzuPUvROesIv5HdlM1VYqsizKpebkyXtIToXQ/s400/IMG_4618.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
It turned out so cute!! I was worried about how the seam in the back would turn out as I've never knit a hat flat and then seamed up the back, but you couldn't hardly tell their was a seam at all!! My friend sent me a picture of the little girl this went to and it looks perfect on her:) <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lilac-hat-with-lacy-zigzag-stitch">THIS</a> is the pattern.<br />
<br />
The next project I did was on a whim. My sister-in-law gave me a double folded pot holder a few years ago that a friend of hers had crocheted. Hers and mine had both been used so much that they have since hit the dust, so she was talking of wanting to try to make another.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFl2i8BGFEXbwhJy8ifnrqQfNRpC6aCy1TREgaOd-r1D8JbFkOLKH_9_DZTxGHCEX5x7CdHbGy1EEnyY9GLGZpgSgU6Q0uIjJLDI8G23yptZe7Q3YFuHgE-0kKaTePC84HUAc_odK_APgL/s1600/IMG_4639.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFl2i8BGFEXbwhJy8ifnrqQfNRpC6aCy1TREgaOd-r1D8JbFkOLKH_9_DZTxGHCEX5x7CdHbGy1EEnyY9GLGZpgSgU6Q0uIjJLDI8G23yptZe7Q3YFuHgE-0kKaTePC84HUAc_odK_APgL/s400/IMG_4639.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
So I looked around for a pattern - and there are LOTS of them, and ended up using <a href="http://www.mielkesfiberarts.com/diagonal-hotpad/">THIS</a> one. While not technically a pattern, I thought her directions were well layed out. I did make one change and that was to do a 42 stitch chain, which I think still turned out smaller than the original pot holder that I had, but ended up using up all but about 3 feet of the yarn ball. I really got lucky that I choose the size so well!! :)<br />
<br />
Now I'm back to working on socks and want to get back to the cardigan that I started. Oh, and I had started some mitts for my daughter that I want to get done for Christmas, and she requested a hat as well:) Happy knitting mommy!! Looks like I have lots to keep me busy.<br />

<br />
Well, it's been a few weeks since I've posted anything at all on my blog. Nothing major going on here, just needing a little break. My wrists/hands are working on getting better, so I have gotten a little knitting done. Actually I've gotten a little 'starting' done:)<br />
<br />
First off, I'm really getting somewhere with my socks...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRXliaR2AwXYA39se2zb3EiDlH1gjp_LbbxQ9O59-NRipUbyvRevxUZqpsRkbqfIpzMnHK3RJKU0gVwDI7B7lYIL7L0kfSrQIUo1HFF9gErvVuhPGgJbPdwZvWuG9KQWwoPm40ATwOd2tm/s1600/IMG_4603.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRXliaR2AwXYA39se2zb3EiDlH1gjp_LbbxQ9O59-NRipUbyvRevxUZqpsRkbqfIpzMnHK3RJKU0gVwDI7B7lYIL7L0kfSrQIUo1HFF9gErvVuhPGgJbPdwZvWuG9KQWwoPm40ATwOd2tm/s640/IMG_4603.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
One down and the other is to the heel flap!! I love the colors in these socks and can't wait to wear them!! And speaking of wearing socks, it finally got cool enough for me to wear my first pair of knitted socks!! My family thinks I'm nuts, but I was so excited:)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyW3Y2tcbtmFtx70zzxuXd3R4hn9vF_EcRZQpuNyDJXK9l1O2FHxM-Li7DdjjAfV2DSOBm5IiaFfNXKXNcy9Oty0ymYteVeQ5svFo__AxiPRTzIkxqgQEonfLwvZFy4iYRR4BtNKrlXuj3/s1600/IMG_4605.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyW3Y2tcbtmFtx70zzxuXd3R4hn9vF_EcRZQpuNyDJXK9l1O2FHxM-Li7DdjjAfV2DSOBm5IiaFfNXKXNcy9Oty0ymYteVeQ5svFo__AxiPRTzIkxqgQEonfLwvZFy4iYRR4BtNKrlXuj3/s640/IMG_4605.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I said I've been starting projects, well.. When I started knitting my 2 main goals were to learn to knit socks and to learn to make sweaters/cardigans. I have succeeded on the socks, and now it's time to make a cardigan!! I'm making <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/georgetown">Georgetown by Hannah Fettig</a> from her Home and Away collection.<br />
All I have done on it is the ribbing along the bottom (the blue knitting above). About the same time I started that, my daughter said she would like a pair of mitts, so I started <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/maize-3">Maize by Tin Can Knits</a> from their Simple Collection. This will be a first for me as well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8EiIYGF_GTARKy8xHVjr_9GAm8eNSdBWiHNIs6Ms9UGZGbXfwqKkS18JMTx7zSELLrA-zs67UAoegvHAwTgy3QKCP8jAELlsPJjWBCMhGxLLsmdI6kD-33Yzlq4TfZJZ03M3aAgbfsfgu/s1600/IMG_4612.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8EiIYGF_GTARKy8xHVjr_9GAm8eNSdBWiHNIs6Ms9UGZGbXfwqKkS18JMTx7zSELLrA-zs67UAoegvHAwTgy3QKCP8jAELlsPJjWBCMhGxLLsmdI6kD-33Yzlq4TfZJZ03M3aAgbfsfgu/s640/IMG_4612.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I was working along on all the above when I got a text from a close friend saying that a foster family friend of hers was in need of a little girl hat. The little one had brain surgery last week and they wanted a pretty hat for her (they even sent a picture of an example, complete with the flower:). I found this pattern '<a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lilac-hat-with-lacy-zigzag-stitch">Lilac Hat' by Yelena Chen</a> and I think it is perfect. The little girl has many health issues one of which is that she is blind so the color was at the request of the mom and rest of the family. I started on the bottom one, but it's too thick so I went back and got thinner yarn, and I'm liking it better. I'll finish the thicker one for her too so she can wear it outdoors:)<br />
<br />
As soon as the hats are done I'm right back on the other projects!!<br />
<br />
Off to see what others have been working on:)Shannon Meyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10441371597778253006noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7346367261240923592.post-84437684860909229062017-09-26T16:55:00.001-05:002017-09-26T16:55:55.491-05:00Craft On - Knitting & StitchingLinking with <a href="http://frontierdreams.blogspot.com/2017/09/crafting-on_26.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+FrontierDreams+%28Frontier+Dreams%29">Nicole at Frontier Dreams</a><br />
<br />
I'm still going slow with the RA acting up, especially in my left wrist, but I am still knitting!! I've been making sure to switch out the knitting with some stitching as that seems to help from getting sore, and of course the amount of time I can spend doing either one isn't as much as I'd like, but it'll get better soon and I'll be back at it in full swing!!<br />
<br />
It is FINALLY feeling like autumn around here (as of yesterday- before that it was in the 90's), so I wanted to knit something that feels like 'autumn' to me...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhluU2zbwPEzof_EoilslJfzrdeBgpTWp0sp46l7zbmwC2dH02TibuP01Hv8DMC2VXHpYn6KxXY3vUVn5sqQtbNjTQOnUyTGoQEAe6zjqba-Iw_LxiGYINMNxZ9CqIeAJr6L4N9sbfY0GQp/s1600/IMG_4586.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhluU2zbwPEzof_EoilslJfzrdeBgpTWp0sp46l7zbmwC2dH02TibuP01Hv8DMC2VXHpYn6KxXY3vUVn5sqQtbNjTQOnUyTGoQEAe6zjqba-Iw_LxiGYINMNxZ9CqIeAJr6L4N9sbfY0GQp/s640/IMG_4586.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
So I worked on this sock:) I am really loving the colors in this yarn, even with the teal and navy blues, it really says 'autumn' to me:)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I am also working on this cute little witch, who wants to be a frog!! This is by Sunflower Diaries and can be found in Just Cross Stitch Mag Halloween issue from this year. I'm stitching it up to be an exchange gift and even though I'm not much of a Halloween person, I just love her:) I'm about done with her, just have a little across the bottom to finish up, her boots and a little back stitching to finish her face and the frog eyes. Then I will make her into a little ornament. Hoping to have her done by Friday as I need to get it mailed off on Monday!!<br />
<br />
Well, that is all for now. I'm hoping that my wrist/hands/fingers start cooperating with me so I can get more done!! I have all kinds of projects I want to work on this autumn!!Shannon Meyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10441371597778253006noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7346367261240923592.post-25175081733632022242017-09-20T15:48:00.000-05:002017-09-20T15:48:14.783-05:00Craft On - I am Addicted Linking up with <a href="http://frontierdreams.blogspot.com/2017/09/crafting-on_19.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+FrontierDreams+%28Frontier+Dreams%29">Nicole at Frontier Dreams</a> and her Crafting On posts:)<br />
<br />
I'm not sure if it's because socks are a small project that can tote around easily and get finished (relatively) quickly or what, but I don't see this trend of knitting socks going away anytime soon:)<br />
<br />
First off I finished my first Wool-Free yarn sock...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNUowOC2_VfscrR8TblhJvYacRVna7BmFMvnecZ_ymr9OxPRzcVsOM1F_io7z5Ypg2JQkGs4E7nuOOIbMuhJNM9T9GTWbBEcbg6KCpIRrXuo4nBCvQBjUhyAm1wDAvqY5DkvY7puVvkfoZ/s1600/IMG_4567.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNUowOC2_VfscrR8TblhJvYacRVna7BmFMvnecZ_ymr9OxPRzcVsOM1F_io7z5Ypg2JQkGs4E7nuOOIbMuhJNM9T9GTWbBEcbg6KCpIRrXuo4nBCvQBjUhyAm1wDAvqY5DkvY7puVvkfoZ/s640/IMG_4567.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This pattern has you cast on 64 stitches and it is noticeably bigger than the last 2 pair I knit. It fits, but I think it's going to stretch out and be a little too big. However I like that the leg part is longer and the toe has a little decorative stitching to it (I'll show that better when they are both done). Like a good girl, I cast on the second sock - but just barely!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6qoRxho0y5b525Kkaafx3bFDOyYWrIvDQvkC1CHYbtFygtzCsW5Wmb2Xe6CbxzGG_FlmsBPLTCTZ27KauivV0Z-WVxtOMRQZZHQUGWdSZUaSZNHNFpZsYRt1YH2oAXz7gqgI9v92fZsx2/s1600/IMG_4571.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6qoRxho0y5b525Kkaafx3bFDOyYWrIvDQvkC1CHYbtFygtzCsW5Wmb2Xe6CbxzGG_FlmsBPLTCTZ27KauivV0Z-WVxtOMRQZZHQUGWdSZUaSZNHNFpZsYRt1YH2oAXz7gqgI9v92fZsx2/s640/IMG_4571.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Because I somehow found myself at Hobby Lobby yesterday and found another colorway of Wool-Free sock yarn that I really like. There is lots of brown/rust/cream with hints of teal and dark blue in it. I decided to follow the pattern again, except to cast on 60 stitches instead of 64 and see if that helps. The other option was to use size 1 needles instead of size 2, but I don't have size 1 right now, so 60 stitches it is!! :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For a little fun:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Pumpkin (above) is pretty chill. He looked around and nudged me just a bit to get petted and then sat down close, but out of the camera view.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0vqaZvrETGxLAw6sD-eFMA5Daxj11KMKHwxfEIgcj-Znz2Wm_0ElLetx5aWH8OZeZ3iEsnn99_ZlU-i78qYY1RnEihJqAXC6rpdAYUfe2H3ubmnwxHbfGYew13o5Wt4TAhu_iZcA_PxNA/s1600/IMG_4569.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0vqaZvrETGxLAw6sD-eFMA5Daxj11KMKHwxfEIgcj-Znz2Wm_0ElLetx5aWH8OZeZ3iEsnn99_ZlU-i78qYY1RnEihJqAXC6rpdAYUfe2H3ubmnwxHbfGYew13o5Wt4TAhu_iZcA_PxNA/s640/IMG_4569.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
Jack, on the other hand, is my boy, and he knows it. And he's jealous of anything that comes in between him and me petting him. He nudges, nips, jumps up on me, and uses his claws just enough not to leave a permanent mark, just about anything he can do to get my attention. He was flitting his tail on the yarn ball as I was trying to get it wound back up, nipping at my fingers and bumping my hands with his head as I was taking pictures. I love him though I'm glad he's outdoors or I would never get anything done. Plus I wouldn't be able to breath - we are all pretty allergic to cats, and breathing is important:)<br />
<br />
Off to knit more socks!!!Shannon Meyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10441371597778253006noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7346367261240923592.post-10220999730661526122017-09-13T12:27:00.001-05:002017-09-13T12:27:55.830-05:00Craft On - More Socks:) Linking up with Nicole at Frontier Dreams.<br />
<br />
I am for-sure hooked on knitting socks!! I finished my daughter's socks...<br />

And yes, I took this picture in her car. She wanted these for when she went ice skating (I went with her into the city since she had never driven there before) and I hadn't yet taken pictures. So I resorted to this:)<br />
<br />
And then I started these...<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Using the pattern on the yarn wrapper</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These are made with 'no-wool' yarn which has been quite a bit different to work with than the Kroy yarn I made the other two pair with. First off, it is stretchy almost like elastic which means I need to be careful not to pull too much. They are also turning out quite a bit wider than the other pairs, so I'll have to see if they fit right or not. I do like the self striping that it is doing and that while the pattern is really pretty close to what I used before, there is a little difference. I want to keep learning different heel and toe options as well as eventually learn to knit toe-up socks. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

And I decided that this beast needs to get done before it gets cold again. I think I started this afghan before Christmas last year but put it away when it started getting warm. I know I'm more than halfway done with it, but haven't measured it lately. The colors are almost a perfect match to the socks I'm working on. I gave my daughter a hard time about her black/gray/white socks being a boring color scheme, but I'm thinking that maybe it was better than grey/white/tan :) I like it anyway!!<br />
<br />
The knitting/crocheting (and stitching as well), has been slow going for the past few days. I have a mild form of RA and the last couple months it has been hitting harder than normal, however it has been mostly my feet/toes that have been affected. But in the last week or so, my left wrist has been really sore. I can still do a bit here and there, just not quite as much. I know it'll pass, which is a huge blessing, so I'll just do what I can for now and wait for it to pass (hopefully not on to the right wrist, but that's usually how it works before it moves on to another area). It seems to get worse during allergy season, and I've also not stuck to my gluten free diet very well. I need to get back on track with that and should be feeling better over-all in a couple of months:) For now, I'll just take it a little more slowly.Shannon Meyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10441371597778253006noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7346367261240923592.post-68033626416373922222017-09-04T10:45:00.000-05:002017-09-04T10:45:19.095-05:00Weekend StitchingI started this post yesterday, but got interrupted and never ended up getting back to it:) I had a nice easy day at home yesterday, which was really nice. You'd think that after 18 years of being a 'stay-at-home' mom I'd be tired of the days I actually get to 'stay-at-home', but I really do enjoy just staying in. And you might be surprised by how few days I've gotten to stay at home during that time:) <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Saturday was one of those days that I had planned to be home, but those plans got changed. My daughter decided she wanted to go into the city with a friend to go ice skating, but she was nervous about driving as she hadn't driven by herself there before. I showed her a map of how to get around the worst of the traffic with the fewest turns so she wouldn't get lost, but in the end she asked if I would go with her. She still drove, I was just there to help. I grew up in that city and it is on the smaller side by comparison to some in nearby states. I think the pop is around 300,000, but when you grow up in an area where a traffic jam means that a combine is blocking the road (or they are moving cattle to a new pasture, or harvest is going on and there are family cars out to feed the farmers), well it's a bit different than she's use to:) Actually she did just fine getting to the ice rink and then to the mall and back home. She really didn't need me, but she felt better that I was there and next time she'll be ready. And I felt better too. At 18 years old, I know there won't be many more times that she'll need to ask for my help in these matters.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Anyway...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
When I have been home, I've kept my hands busy, not only with knitting which I'll show off in a day or two, but with stitching as well:) </div>

I'm SOOOOO close to being done with Spring Snapperland..</div>

I'm doing the froggy-witch for a Halloween exchange. I think she's super cute;0) We've not been into Halloween so I didn't have any charts to use for this exchange. I had to go out and buy the new 2017 Just Cross Stitch Halloween magazine. Even though I probably won't stitch much more from it, I do like the pumpkin truck chart that is right next to the cute little witch, so I think I'll stitch that one up for myself. </div>

<div>
I also started playing around with the next Wordplay that I will stitch for my mother in law...</div>

I will be making several changes to this chart to suit what my mother in law is wanting. First off, she just wants 'Autumn' with no Halloween theme. October's chart does have a Halloween theme, but also has more 'Autumn' words than any of the others. I *think* I'm going to take the apple tree out of September's Wordplay and put it in place of the witch in this one. I will also take out a couple words like 'witch and crow' and replace them with 'apples and mums'. I've even thought of using the above pumpkin truck and adding it to this piece, but I'm not sure yet. I have a good starting point anyway, so I may get started on this one today!! :) </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I have a bit of errand running to do today - actually thought daughter was going with me, but she woke up with a fever, so back to bed for her. After I get home, I have some housework that needs done, but should have late afternoon/evening for some stitching and/or knitting time. That is always nice:) </div>

<br />
Two weeks ago I did a little sewing for Friday Night Sew-In (hosted by <a href="http://www.sugarlane-designs.com/">Wendy of Sugarlane Designs</a> on the 3rd Friday of each month), but I didn't get as much done on my projects as I would have liked. So I worked a bit more this past week and finished those projects up!!<br />

The first project is a stitching piece I did for my mother-in-law. This is 'August WordPlay' by With Thy Needle and Thread, but I changed it to 'Summer' instead. I sewed on a backing, put tabs on so it can be hung and filled it with 5 layers of quilt batting to give it a little depth. I made the tabs just a little too small this time. I didn't have the 'Spring' one I made for her so I couldn't remember how long I left the tabs for it. This still works as I hung it on the rod she has, but it was a bit tight. I will have to remember that for the 'Autumn' one that I will be starting to stitch soon:)<br />

This is 'Market Bag' from the Sewing To Sell book by Virginia Lindsey. I made one for myself last month and then my sister-in-law saw it and wanted one as well. I ended up giving her the first one I made because this one wasn't ready last week when I went to visit her. I made one change on this bag that I didn't make on the first one. The bags are to have a 7in boxed bottom, but I felt that took too much of the height away from the bag, so this bag has a 4 in deep boxed bottom. I've already used it once at out farmer's market and I really love this fabric!!<br />

After my sister-in-law decided she wanted a market bag she started talking about wanting a Halloween themed stitching/zipper bag as well. So when I met with her last week we went to a fabric/quilting store and she picked out the cutest fabric!!! I'll make a large zipper project bag and a small zipper notions bag from these fabrics:) I'm pretty excited to see how they turn out!!<br />
<br />
Next post *should* be about stitching, and I'm really excited to show off a couple new projects I'm getting ready to start stitching!!<br />
<br />

<br />
Well, I think I have officially caught the sock knitting bug!! Last week I finished my first pair and then my daughter asked for a pair of her own, soooo...<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7f1h5GCfcHf3QQ5TAqPR5JPijiXAOk9NqDgrL53FMYWsGrgOEcviVZD8YqavXsqPgNVBcYzKYjn-wY9D8zI6oAq8Mxi7W24XehBl7NO5uKCw2eGrplbqq_crxRDSClspVrULsIeAlZzIO/s1600/IMG_4528.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7f1h5GCfcHf3QQ5TAqPR5JPijiXAOk9NqDgrL53FMYWsGrgOEcviVZD8YqavXsqPgNVBcYzKYjn-wY9D8zI6oAq8Mxi7W24XehBl7NO5uKCw2eGrplbqq_crxRDSClspVrULsIeAlZzIO/s640/IMG_4528.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Using Kroy sock yarn.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I've finished the first sock and am just starting the heel flap on the second. Using <a href="http://colourchoices.blogspot.com/2011/07/basic-sock-pattern-1.html">THIS</a> pattern.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHswvm64rvzyJuXM_xrSJDg18D0n6qSUzS1dtpH-wGewyDK4SdhNScf3XpvOPjydm_6veBKfbtNGyRRbzvU5qHqulZhfeAQGOqi5hXPEpjJqlUIebZPGeesI01ZJSPa5JbbO_gItRMCSzX/s1600/IMG_4527.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHswvm64rvzyJuXM_xrSJDg18D0n6qSUzS1dtpH-wGewyDK4SdhNScf3XpvOPjydm_6veBKfbtNGyRRbzvU5qHqulZhfeAQGOqi5hXPEpjJqlUIebZPGeesI01ZJSPa5JbbO_gItRMCSzX/s640/IMG_4527.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Of course one pair of socks on the needles isn't enough, so I cast on another, this time using 'no-wool' yarn and a very similar pattern to the one above.<br />
<br />
I got together with my sister-in-law <a href="https://midnightstitching.wordpress.com/">Marianne</a> and another friend last week and we ended up going to a yarn store. Oh, my. I was good and didn't buy anything - for now anyway, but there were SOOOO many sock yarns there!! I'm thinking that's what everyone is going to get for Christmas this year:)<br />
<br />
Off to see what others have been Crafting On!!!Shannon Meyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10441371597778253006noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7346367261240923592.post-53725097030721631222017-08-22T09:00:00.000-05:002017-08-22T09:00:15.822-05:00Craft On - Socks, Socks, SocksLinking up with Nicole at Frontier Dreams and her Crafting On link-up.<br />
<br />
I didn't get any work done on my Cloud Wrap, but I have been wearing my fingers out working on socks!!!<br />
<br />
I finally finished my very first pair of socks!!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPm82WXgJVpkbemiW2IByqKrfgu11Y1829Dtod0jw3R0P4Uc_ID1CG2eU1msRwkRQzTDBEAPwXOcAArmpfSP0ZHo2MdtoFpmCHTmdSAwAaxE5NXScYrVCEL6oPy3fDE6qdGn0sePU1HyyC/s1600/IMG_4519.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPm82WXgJVpkbemiW2IByqKrfgu11Y1829Dtod0jw3R0P4Uc_ID1CG2eU1msRwkRQzTDBEAPwXOcAArmpfSP0ZHo2MdtoFpmCHTmdSAwAaxE5NXScYrVCEL6oPy3fDE6qdGn0sePU1HyyC/s640/IMG_4519.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Using <a href="http://colourchoices.blogspot.com/2011/07/basic-sock-pattern-1.html">THIS</a> pattern (except that I lengthened the leg portion) and Kroy Sock yarn. I'm super happy with these socks:)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKI_jO9IcBi22lXksGmFeQwxYdVEHYESrmnU_sObUoTV7_KbsZEBIJX6LMW3XkLehn6nm086kXyEVlE398SiILRBxphmAtn1bg2CmFbGYZMI2VlDjp-KMcgcm-r8QC6vqqiZM2ZiYvi4dx/s1600/IMG_4520.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKI_jO9IcBi22lXksGmFeQwxYdVEHYESrmnU_sObUoTV7_KbsZEBIJX6LMW3XkLehn6nm086kXyEVlE398SiILRBxphmAtn1bg2CmFbGYZMI2VlDjp-KMcgcm-r8QC6vqqiZM2ZiYvi4dx/s640/IMG_4520.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
My daughter wanted a pair as well, only she wants hers a little shorter than what I made mine. So I'm using the same pattern as above, but leaving the leg length the same as the pattern calls for. I'm ready to start the heal flap on this one.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-LxJEt1R-XlWgyfkExx5g7O2lZkJAUYE_0GHcCyBBAA7jUPUMZ6MM9KEySB3uC_7g7y6LAJkA_nrNefl80VQL_E9_lrre92RkFfkQ8VbPQ9eNXXziJ3UvPgSZQKCMEFx8aVeokY6MVqnG/s1600/IMG_4521.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-LxJEt1R-XlWgyfkExx5g7O2lZkJAUYE_0GHcCyBBAA7jUPUMZ6MM9KEySB3uC_7g7y6LAJkA_nrNefl80VQL_E9_lrre92RkFfkQ8VbPQ9eNXXziJ3UvPgSZQKCMEFx8aVeokY6MVqnG/s640/IMG_4521.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
And then I remembered that I had this yarn in my stash and as it is pretty different than the Kroy yarn, I went off to buy another pair of size 2 dpns and got started using the pattern on the back of the yarn band. The pattern is very similar to the above pattern, but one of the differences is that you are working on 3 needles instead of 4. This makes the yarn pull between needle one and two and try as I might to keep the tension tight, it shows up pretty badly. So I undid what I had done and I'm going to do it on 4 needles, I'll have to switch off by the time I get to the heel flap, but I can do that and I think it'll make for nicer socks. This yarn is almost elastic so it has a very different feel and look to the ones above. We will see which ones I prefer once they are done:)Shannon Meyerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10441371597778253006noreply@blogger.com1
